BIKEWAY NEUHAUSEN – Ein Fahrradweg zur Kunst

Der in New York lebende Künstler Rainer Ganahl hatte am 14. Juni 2012 die Strasse am Schlossplatz sperren lassen, um sie zum zweispurigen Fahrradweg mit Einbahnstrasse umzugestalten.

Bikeway Neuhausen ist ein Modellversuch des Künstlers Rainer Ganahl für Fahrradfahrerinnen und Fahrradfahrer in Neuhausen/Fildern. Dieser Fahrradweg entspricht der von Rainer Ganahl im Fahrrad-Manifest geforderten 50%-Lösung, die bisher in Deutschland noch nicht umgesetzt wurde.

Nicht nur die Bevölkerung in Neuhausen konnte am Modellversuch teilnehmen, sondern auch die Besucher des Kunstvereins.  Durch die freundliche Unterstützung der Firma Ansmann konnte der Kunstverein Neuhausen seinen Besuchern ein Ansmann E-Pedelec zur Probefahrt auf dem 50%-Fahrradweg am Schlossplatz anbieten.

Bikeway NEUHAUSEN I

With the project PERPETUAL MOTION the New York based artist Rainer Ganahl examined the traffic situation in Neuhausen. In the municipality there are indeed spacious streets for traffic, but not a designated rout for cyclists. In the artist’s grievant eyes, he wants to counteract this with an alternative transportation concept. In the center of Neuhausen Rainer Ganahl proposes a pilot project for bikeways, first in allergic traffic points. He found one, among other things, a small road that borders the Palace Square (Schlossplatz) in the center of Neuhausen, in a southwesterly direction. The street is cobble stone and navigable in both directions, and four parking spaces; it is basically too small for the multi-functional use of parking, car-driving, cycling and foot traffic. Rainer Ganahl advised to transform this road into a one-way street with no parking lane and a bicycle path with two lanes in both directions (Bikeway).
NEUHAUSEN Bikeway is a temporary art project in public space, which lasts June 14 until July 2, 2012.

NEUHAUSEN Bikeway – A Bikeway to Art.
The New York-based artist Rainer Ganahl, on 14 June 2012 blocked the road on the Schlossplatz to redesign it for two-way bicycle path with a one-way street. Bikeway Neuhausen is a pilot project of the artist Rainer Ganahl for bicycle riders in Neuhausen /Filder. This cycle corresponds to the 50% solution, which Rainer Ganahl demanded in his cycling manifesto. This 50% Bikeway has been implemented for the first time in Germany.
